Project Objectives
To recognise the relationship between climate change and forest fires
Results: Participants will;- Recognise the impact of human activities on climate change.
- Understand that climate change triggers forest fires.
- Will assume individual and social responsibilities to prevent these threats.
- They will have gained basic competences in this field.
To discover the richness of the forest ecosystem in terms of living species and its effects on the environment
Result 2 — Participants;- Recognise the species living in different forest ecosystems.
- Learn the effects of forests on atmospheric gases.
- Give importance to biological diversity.
- Gain the necessary skills to protect and afforest forests and promote their environment.
- Develop forest ecosystem literacy skills.
Discovering the damages caused by forest fires to the environment will create awareness in participants in the fight against environmental and climate change. This awareness will make the participants more sensitive to environmental problems and they will want to take individual responsibilities. Over time, their basic skills in combating environment and climate change will improve. The development of forest ecosystem literacy skills will also contribute to this situation. The digital outputs to be produced in the project aim to establish the forest-climate-environment connection. In these aspects, our project objectives are linked to our priorities.
Digital Game Platform
A digital game platform will be prepared that will enable afforestation in a virtual environment. Players will own a treeless land in a virtual environment. Initially, they will be given tree species that they can plant on the land and players will take care of these trees. As the trees grow, the ratio of oxygen to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will change and players will be able to see this on the screen. New tree species can be acquired as the game progresses.
Forest Ecosystem Literacy Digital Booklet
A forest ecosystem literacy digital booklet will be prepared. The booklet will include basic information and visuals about the protection, reproduction and biological richness of forests, the damages caused by human activities to the environment, the effects of climate change on forest fires, and the environmental consequences of forest fires.
Digital Forest Map
A digital map including the forests of the project partner countries will be made. The map will show the places where large-scale forest fires have occurred before and the risky forest areas where fires may occur. The map will be coloured and videos will be added for each region, giving information about the history and ecosystem of the region in terms of fire.
4.5Green Digital Learning Platform
4.5Green, a digital learning platform will be created to raise awareness about the environment and climate crisis. Course contents as well as measurement and evaluation tools will be developed for the platform.
What makes your proposal innovative?
A Unique Approach to Forest Education
Many useful projects have been written on combating the environmental climate crisis. The concrete outputs of our project are the elements that make our project innovative.
With the virtual land we will create, students will be able to plant trees and create their own forests in a virtual environment. This output will create the necessary awareness to prepare for real life. There is no similar digital application in school education. In this sense, it is innovative in terms of software and fiction.
In our research on the Erasmus project results platform, we could not find a project on forest ecosystem literacy. The forest ecosystem literacy skills will also contribute to this situation.
